The items we inherit can tell us a great deal about our family histories. In this episode we discuss the kinds of objects ad stories we might have and important considerations including change over time and gender.

Jane Hamlett is a Professor of Modern British History at Royal Holloway, University of London where she teaches and researches the history of home, family and private life. Jane has written about the Victorian home, life in Victorian and Edwardian asylums, schools and lodging houses and most recently on the growing place of pets in the British family. She is currently working on a new project on Victorian family archiving. Jane is also a keen public historian, has co-curated exhibitions with The Museum of Home and Surrey History Centre and has made regular appearances on TV and Radio.
